About
Greetings from the President of the AOC Republic of Korea Roost Chapter
Welcome to the website of the Association of Old Crows (AOC) Republic of Korea Roost Chapter.
Dear Members,
The Association of Old Crows (AOC), established in 1964 in the United States, is a non-profit international organization dedicated to the advancement of electromagnetic warfare (EW) and spectrum operations community.
It brings together participants from industry, the military, research institutions, and the general public. AOC connects members and organizations from governments, industries, academia, and research institutes worldwide to exchange ideas and information on electronic warfare, electromagnetic spectrum management, cyber-electromagnetic activities, and information operations.
It serves as a global platform for the development of the electronic warfare domain. Currently, AOC has 65 chapters in 19 countries and over 14,500 active members.
In Republic of Korea, electronic warfare activities began in 1975 with the development of shipborne electronic warfare systems initiated by the Agency for Defense Development in collaboration with Goldstar Electric Co., Ltd. (now LIG Nex1 Co., Ltd.). Since then, self-protection systems for fighter aircraft and naval vessels, ground-based communications electronic warfare systems, and systems for ELINT and SIGINT have been developed, deployed, and operated by the military. These activities have been the result of close cooperation among military, governmental, academic, and research institutions. Based on this collaboration, the AOC ROK Roost Chapter was established and is actively engaged in promoting the field.
The AOC ROK Roost Chapter hosts an annual Electronic Warfare Workshop and maintains active exchanges with AOC Headquarters, including inviting the AOC President and executives each year. The chapter operates with the goal of fostering communication between users and suppliers, as well as encouraging information sharing and camaraderie among members to further the development of electronic warfare in the Republic of Korea.
Over the past 40 years, ROK's electronic warfare technology has continuously advanced and now stands at a globally competitive level. With hundreds of professionals working in this field, electronic warfare occupies an important position within ROK's national defense science and technology. As we enter the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, electronic warfare technology is poised for a new leap forward, and we are preparing for overseas exports based on the infrastructure and technical capabilities we have built.
Moving forward, the AOC ROK Chapter will continue to promote active communication among military, industry, academia, and research sectors, and strengthen its exchanges with AOC Headquarters and international chapters. We ask for your continued and active participation.
Sincerely,
Lim, Joong-Soo
President, AOC Republic of Korea Roost Chapter
